For some of us who grew up in Cape Town, we will always remember the Silverhurst Estate with warm affection. Each year, in the month of December, Silverhurst welcomed children and their parents from across the Cape to ‘Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party’.
The parties, originally hosted by Rotors Club of Wynberg, provided tremendous enjoyment for all who attended, with tractor rides, hay fights, a marching band and picnics. But, most importantly, the events raised funds for community projects and collected toys for charity, kindly donated by the families who attended.
Whilst residents of the Estate still enjoy this annual event, now called The Silverhurst Christmas Party, Uncle Paul’s Christmas Parties, which are now hosted by Rotaract Club of Wynberg, have moved across the road to Groot Constantia. Click here for more information.
